Single Varietal Focus and Tasting
April 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Welcome to the Single Varietal Focus and Tasting class. Every month, we will feature a new grape and showcase a selection of wines to represent how the characteristics of the grape may change depending on the climate, region, vintage, and elevation. During class, we will taste six wines to demonstrate how winemaking choices may impact the final wine. Such choices include, but are not limited to: maceration time, oak, carbonic maceration, and ageing variation.
This class is a great introduction to specific wine grapes for all wine lovers, from beginners to more advanced. It also serves as a great way for intermediate wine lovers to experience wines from regions or price points outside of their comfort zone, increasing their knowledge of wine styles from around the globe.
To see if you are too advanced for this class, here is a self-assessment quiz: score 80% or higher and you’re ready to move onto our Understanding Varieties and Blending courses which brings the focus to wine regions and the classic blending styles of those regions.
This class is taught by a Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 4 Diploma candidate and French Wine Scholar Graduate with 14 years’ experience in the industry as a wine buyer and educator.
These classes are non-refundable. Missed classes may be transferred to the following class within the same Unit.
