Viticulture Debrief

Welcome to our Masterclass on Viticulture! Here, we will review the basics of how grapes are produced in the field, pushing beyond the biology basics and bringing in a review of winemaker choices. These choices include trellising systems and how they are tied into the soil type, climate, and varietal; winemaking choices of organic, biodynamic, sustainable, and conventional and how each of these tie in with pest management which then ties into the longevity of the vineyard; and we will finish with notes on irrigation and harvest times.

During the class, we will taste a range of wines from organic, biodynamic, and conventional producers. Students will be guided to reflect on the expression of the grapes and we will further review the differences in the winemaking processes for each of the wines, highlighting the varied winemaking techniques the producers may have used.

This class is taught by a Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 4 Diploma candidate and French Wine Scholar Graduate with 14 years experience in the industry as a wine buyer, wine judge, and wine educator.

These classes are non-refundable. Missed classes may be transferred to the following class within the same Unit.
