Winemaker Influences

April 17 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Welcome to our Masterclass on Winemaker Influences! During this class, we will review the stages red, white, rose, and sparkling wines go through to reach the bottling stage. We will then discuss the winemaking choices that may influence the final taste of the wine, such as the use of sulfur dioxide to preserve the freshness of the wine, which choice of yeast to use to inoculate fermentation and how different yeasts add certain attributes to the wine, and, of course, we will review the influences of malolatic fermentation and oak, as well as the evolution of a wine with extended maturity.

During class, we will sample wines with clear examples of particular traits to circle back with a greater understanding of how winemakers influence wines.

This class will feature a guest speaker with 35 years of winemaking experience in Champagne, Loire Valley, Southeast Australia, and the USA. It will be guided by a Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 4 Diploma candidate and French Wine Scholar Graduate with 14 years experience in the industry as a wine buyer, wine judge, and wine educator.

These classes are non-refundable. Missed classes may be transferred to the following class within the same Unit.

Wine Club Memberships Accepted. To register for the wine club to receive two free masterclass entries per month, visit our website for options on the wine club memberships: https://corkandfork.co/wine-club/
