About:

Weingut Mayer am Pfarrplatz, the epitome of Viennese Heurigen culture, has a centuries-old tradition crafting the finest Viennese wines since 1683.

Vienna is the only metropolitan city in the world with notable viticultural areas within its city boundaries and its terroir is unique. The wine-growing region of Vienna covers a surface area of approx. 640 hectares.

Old vineyards planted generations ago. Flysch and marl soils with plenty of shell limestone formed 3 million years ago and more than 100 different tiny sites with considerably varying soil formations. Warm winds streaming in from the Pannonian plains versus the cooling influence of the Vienna Woods and the Danube River. All these unique factors produce great wines.

A good glass of wine paired with Viennese speciality dishes: the world-famous Viennese warmth and friendliness fill the air at the Mayer am Pfarrplatz “Heuriger” (wine tavern) too. Just like wine, music is also an indispensable component of Viennese culture. The suburban house at Pfarrplatz is steeped in history and was home to Ludwig van Beethoven in 1817 during his time in Vienna, whilst he worked on his greatest creation, Symphony
